Rogue Trident Turns 400!

Rogue Trident reached its 400th sale in February of 2009 while Rogue Avenger achieved the 150th sale mark. With authors making about $1 per book in royalties, these milestones have anecdotal financial value, but in the self-publishing world, they are achievements worth celebrating.

In the publishing world, especially in fiction, an overwhelming number of books are sold by a small minority of authors through major publishing houses. Consolidation of publishing houses has made the emergence of new authors into their mainstream pipelines more challenging than in the past.

Fortunately, publishers like Authorhouse and iUniverse have risen to meet the needs of both authors and readers who want to create and enjoy writing outside of the narrow mainstream. The quality of the publishing can rival that of major publishing houses, but sales rarely climb above 300 copies.

In fact, 300 copies sold is considered a 'success' in a self-published effort, and a major milestone is 500 copies, which is a requirement to be an iUniverse STAR author. With sales of Rogue Trident breaking the 400 mark and approaching 500, author and former naval officer, John Hindinger, wishes to thank all readers, especially navy colleagues.
